For my friend Samantha's upcoming engagement dinner I decided to make her a shabby chic framed chalk board for her to possibly use at her wedding. I found a nice size frame with an interesting pattern for about 7$ at my local good will.
It wasn't the best quality frame job so it too a bit of effort to remove all the staples and separate the painting from the frame.
Hold the can about 6-12 inches away from frame and spray in short bursts. Do several thin layers to avoid running. Wait about 15 min between each layer to allow paint to dry.
Allow the frame to dry for about an hour before moving on to the next step.
To add so definition to the detailing on the frame I added a coat of wax finish.
I used Martha Stewart Vintage Decor Antique Wax .
I measured the picture that was originally in the frame and cut a piece of wood to match the dimensions. Coat the wood with about three layers of chalkboard paint waiting about 30 min between each layer. Let dry over night then use wood glue to attach the frame to the wood. Let the frame dry for 6-8 hours before trying to write on the board or hang it up.
